Kochiites, now gear up for a battle of the best at Sociopreneur 2012 as the third edition of Sociopreneur is back to the town. Sociopreneur is the national level social business plan competition hosted by the Entrepreneurship Cell of Model Engineering College (MEC), Cochin with the aim of promoting sustainable social ventures, and tapping the brightest minds from across the nation in seeking solutions to some of the nation’s most pressing problem. The first edition of Sociopreneur was held in the year 2010 and has been a huge success, since then this amazing event is held annually. In its first two editions, Sociopreneur has drawn many talented participants from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Patiala and cities across the state.

Sociopreneur exhorts the youth to raise their voice to guarantee equal opportunity to every single individual, and take those visionary initiatives that could make a qualitative difference to millions of lives. It is one of the very few competitions held in our nation where you can question the nation, its system, democracy and government.

The event takes place in two phases. The participants are required to mail in an abstract of their idea to sociopreneurmec@gmail.com. Six teams will be shortlisted to progress to the finals on March 6th at the Presidency Hotel, Cochin, where they will make a detailed presentation of their b-plan in front of our esteemed panel of judges and a live audience. Audience registrations are also invited to Sociopreneur, with interactive sessions and prizes on offer. The winning team takes away a whopping Rs.40, 000 as an incentive to bring their ideas to fruition.
